Champion Karate Tournament

Champion Karate invites athletes, coaches and families to our annual tournament in southeast Calgary. The event is open to competitors from four years old to Masters, with divisions for first-time participants and experienced athletes.

For our youngest athletes, the Workout and Phantom divisions are a first step onto the tatami: a chance to perform in front of judges and feel what competition is like. For older athletes, it is a full day of Kata and Kumite, individual and team.

The tournament includes divisions for every level, from first-time participants to experienced competitors.

• Workout and Phantom: introductory divisions for our youngest athletes, ages 4 to 7
• Kata: individual divisions from age 6 to adult
• Kumite: individual divisions from age 8 to Masters (35+), with weight categories starting at age 10
• Team Kata and Team Kumite: team events for youth and adult athletes
• Para Kata: adult divisions, 18+

Male and female divisions are offered in Phantom, Kata, Kumite, Para Kata and the team events.
